Colleton County- The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating two collisions that occurred on July 22 at approximately 4:38 p.m. on I-95 southbound near mile marker 41 in Colleton County. The first collision involved three vehicles, with one being a commercial motor vehicle. One person was transported to a local hospital. A short time later, a second collision occurred at the same location that involved 13 vehicles, 6 of those being commercial motor vehicles. The collision resulted in two fatalities and 9 other occupants transported to area hospitals. The southbound lanes on I-95, at mile marker 41, remained closed for approximately 11 hours while traffic was diverted to an alternate route. This crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
