COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 25, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 27, at midnight.

As of March 27, 2016, 200 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 220 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 140 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 74 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight March 27, 28 pedestrians died compared to 32 in 2015; 19 motorcyclists died compared to 19 in 2015; and seven bicyclists died compared to four in 2015 on state roads and highways.
