SCDPS REPORTS TWO KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS JANUARY 6 - JANUARY 8, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of two persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, January 6,  at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 8, at midnight.

As of January 8, 2017, 16 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 16 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

Of the 14 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, five were not wearing safety belts. 

Through midnight January 8, two pedestrians died compared to two in 2016; no motorcyclists died compared to two in 2016; and no bicyclists died compared to one in 2016 on state roads and highways.
