SCDPS Reports Seven Killed on South Carolina Roadways July 12, 2019 to July 14, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, July 12, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 14, at 11:59 p.m.

As of July 14, 500 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 535 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 500 people who have died in 2019, 329 had access to seatbelts, and 164 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through July 14, 86 pedestrians have died compared to 81 in 2018; 52 motorcyclists have died compared to 58 in 2018; and 16 bicyclists have died compared to 10 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
