Media Advisory: SCDPS Holds News Conference Focusing On July 4th Travel, Enforcement Plans

South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) and South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) announce the following event:

WHAT:     July 4th / 100 Deadly Days of Summer Special Enforcement Efforts

WHEN:    1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021  

WHERE:  SC Highway Patrol Troop 1 Headquarters, 1626 Shop Road, Columbia  

This announcement will focus on the holiday enforcement period for July 4th weekend and the 100 Deadly Days of Summer. The goal of the enforcement effort is to deter drivers who are putting the lives of others in danger through violations such as excessive speed and aggressive driving behaviors, distracted driving, and driving under the influence. 

SCDPS will introduce a variety of Highway Patrol, State Transport Police (STP) vehicles and motorcycles that drivers might expect to see enforcing traffic laws on South Carolina roadways this summer and beyond aimed at reducing highway fatalities.


The South Carolina Department of Public Safety includes the Highway Patrol, State Transport Police, Bureau of Protective Services, Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs, Immigration Enforcement Unit and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame.
