The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) announces the following event:

WHAT:   Inaugural Governor's Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Ceremony. Governor Henry D. McMaster will deliver special
                remarks during the ceremony.

WHEN:   Friday, May 19, 2023, at 11:30 a.m.

WHERE:  Seawell’s Restaurant, 1125 Rosewood Drive, Columbia, SC

WHY:     To recognize officers from around the state for exemplary service in 2022. The event will honor three individuals in the
               categories of State, County, and Municipal Officer of the Year.

NOTE: This event is not open to the public and is invite-only for finalists, their families, law enforcement professionals, and the media.

The following law enforcement agencies have officers named as finalists:

  • South Carolina Department of Natural Resources
  • State Law Enforcement Division
  • South Carolina Highway Patrol
  • South Carolina Department of Corrections
  • Barnwell County Sheriff’s Office
  • Greenville County Sheriff’s Office
  • Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office
  • Horry County Sheriff’s Office
  • Sumter County Sheriff’s Office
  • Columbia Police Department
  • North Charleston Police Department
  • Rock Hill Police Department
  • Charleston Police Department

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety includes the Highway Patrol, State Transport Police, Bureau of Protective Services, Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame.
