SCDPS Reports Six Killed on South Carolina Roadways During Christmas Holiday Period (December 22 - December 25)

COLUMBIA — The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina roadways during the Christmas holiday period beginning Friday, December 22, at 6:00 p.m. until Monday, December 25, at 11:59 p.m. Four of those fatalities occurred over the weekend period of Friday, December 22, through Sunday, December 24. In comparison, the South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced a preliminary number of eight people killed on South Carolina roadways during last year's Christmas holiday period.

Please note that these numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of 11:59 p.m. December 26, 2023. For confirmation on fatality information, please contact the appropriate county coroner’s office.
