SCDPS Reports Four Killed On South Carolina Roads December 9 – December 11, 2016

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, December 9, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, December 11, at midnight.

As of December 11, 2016, 933 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 933 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.

Of the 602 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 299 were not wearing safety belts. 

Through midnight December 11, 131 pedestrians died compared to 118 in 2015; 133 motorcyclists died compared to 134 in 2015; and 25 bicyclists died compared to 16 in 2015 on state roads and highways.
