SCDPS REPORTS 10 KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS APRIL 28 – APRIL 30, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 10 persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 28, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 30, at midnight.

As of April 30, 2017, 307 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 308 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016. 

Of the 216 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 106 were not wearing safety belts.  

Through midnight April 30, 45 pedestrians died compared to 42 in 2016; 32 motorcyclists died compared to 42 in 2016; and seven bicyclists died compared to 10 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
