SCDPS Reports Five Killed On South Carolina Roads August 18 – August 20, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, August 18, at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, August 20, at midnight.

As of August 20, 615 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 642 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

Of the 433 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 208 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through midnight August 20, 81 pedestrians have died compared to 90 in 2016; 72 motorcyclists have died compared to 95 in 2016; and 12 bicyclists have died compared to 15 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
