SCDPS Reports Eight Killed On South Carolina Roads March 16 – March 18, 2018

Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 16, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 18, at 11:59 p.m.

As of March 18, 160 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 212 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.

Of the 121 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 61 were not wearing seat belts

Through March 18, 24 pedestrians have died compared to 35 in 2017; 11 motorcyclists have died compared to 19 in 2017; and two bicyclists have died compared to five in 2017 on state roads and highways.
