SCDPS Reports Nine Killed On South Carolina Roads April 6 – April 8, 2018

Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of nine persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 6, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 8, at 11:59 p.m.

4 – 1 motorcyclist (no helmet) – 3 pedestrians

As of April 8, 220 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 264 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.

Of the 165 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 84 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through April 8, 33 pedestrians have died compared to 41 in 2017; 17 motorcyclists have died compared to 25 in 2017; and three bicyclists have died compared to six in 2017 on state roads and highways.
