Officers, Agencies Recognized By SCDPS For 2017 DUI Enforcement Efforts

Columbia – The SC Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) recognized law enforcement officers and agencies today for their efforts in 2017 to enforce the state’s DUI laws and remove impaired drivers from South Carolina roadways.

SCDPS presented awards to officers and agencies in several categories during the 2017 DUI Enforcement Recognition and 2017 Law Enforcement DUI Challenge Ceremonies.

The following is a complete list of winners.

Officer of the Year (five categories based on size of agency):

Rookie of the Year:

  • Patrolman Austyn Jeffcoat, University of South Carolina Police Department, 23 DUI arrests (completed field training in June 2017)

Highway Patrol Trooper of the Year:

Highway Patrol Troop of the Year:

  • Troop 5 (Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Marlboro and Williamsburg counties): 2,816 DUI arrests

State Transport Police District of the Year:

  • Region Two (Abbeville, Laurens, Newberry, Saluda, Edgefield, Greenwood, and McCormick counties)

South Carolina Law Enforcement Network Award:

Agency of the Year (five categories based on size of agency):
