SCDPS Reports 10 Killed On South Carolina Roads May 4 – May 6, 2018

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 10 persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, May 4, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, May 6, at 11:59 p.m.

As of May 6, 297 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 356 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.

Of the 219 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 111 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through May 6, 41 pedestrians have died compared to 52 in 2017; 29 motorcyclists have died compared to 37 in 2017; and five bicyclists have died compared to seven in 2017 on state roads and highways.
