SCDPS Reports Five Killed On South Carolina Roadways June 29 – July 1, 2018

Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, June 29, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 1, at 11:59 p.m.

As of July 1, 483 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 519 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.

Of the 343 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 172 were not wearing seat belts.

Through July 1, 69 pedestrians have died compared to 72 in 2017; 49 motorcyclists have died compared to 55 in 2017; and eight bicyclists have died compared to nine in 2017 on state roads and highways.
