SCDPS Reports Five Killed On South Carolina Roadways July 27 – July 29, 2018

Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, July 27, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 29, at 11:59 p.m.

As of July 29, 540 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 586 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.

Of the 381 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 194 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through July 29, 75 pedestrians have died compared to 82 in 2017; 58 motorcyclists have died compared to 67 in 2017; and 10 bicyclists have died compared to 11 in 2017 on state roads and highways.
