SCDPS Reports Four Killed On South Carolina Roadways August 17 – August 19, 2018

Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, August 17, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, August 19, at 11:59 p.m.

As of August 19, 620 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 634 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.

Of the 431 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 217 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through August 19, 95 pedestrians have died compared to 88 in 2017; 65 motorcyclists have died compared to 74 in 2017; and 10 bicyclists have died compared to 12 in 2017 on state roads and highways.
