Media Advisory: Changes in Release of Information Process Using Nixle

Fri, 12/07/2018

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is advising media outlets of a minor change in how they receive information from our agency through Nixle. SCDPS will no longer disseminate collision and traffic-related information via text message using Nixle. This change will be effective December 17, 2018.

SCHP was recently informed that Nixle will no longer offer the SMS text option for receiving Nixle updates except during major public safety emergencies/events. We want to ensure that our media partners continue to receive collision and traffic information in a timely manner. We will be able to continue using the “Advisory” and “Community” options for our recipients using e-mail.

The majority of media outlets are already receiving Nixle advisories straight to their assignment desks via e-mail. However, if you are not receiving these alerts and would like to receive them, please provide your e-mail by Wednesday, December 12, 2018, to allow us time to update the system.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please reply directly to this e-mail.
