SCDPS Reports Three Killed on South Carolina Roadways March 1, 2019-March 3, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of three persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 1, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 3, at 11:59 p.m.

As of March 3, 131 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 148 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 131 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2019, 96 had access to seat belts, and 44 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through March 3, 25 pedestrians have died compared to 23 in 2018; five motorcyclists have died compared to 14 in 2018; and two bicyclists have died compared to two in 2018 on state roads and highways.
