SCDPS Reports Six Killed On South Carolina Roadways April 19, 2019 To April 21, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 19, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 21, at 11:59 p.m.

As of April 21, 262 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 285 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 262 people who have died in 2019, 182 had access to seatbelts, and 87 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through April 21, 48 pedestrians have died compared to 44 in 2018; 15 motorcyclists have died compared to 25 in 2018; and nine bicyclists have died compared to four in 2018 on state roads and highways.
