SCDPS Reports 10 Killed On South Carolina Roadways April 26, 2019 To April 28, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 10 persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 26, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 28, at 11:59 p.m.

As of April 28, 281 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 305 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 281 people who have died in 2019, 195 had access to seatbelts, and 93 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through April 28, 51 pedestrians have died compared to 46 in 2018; 18 motorcyclists have died compared to 27 in 2018; and nine bicyclists have died compared to five in 2018 on state roads and highways.
