SCDPS Reports Five Killed On South Carolina Roadways September 27, 2019 To September 29, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, September 27, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, September 29, at 11:59 p.m.

As of September 29, 720 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 775 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 720 people who have died in 2019, 460 had access to seatbelts, and 225 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through September 29, 116 pedestrians have died compared to 116 in 2018; 94 motorcyclists have died compared to 87 in 2018; and 21 bicyclists have died compared to 16 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
