As of January 19, 27 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 47 highway deaths during the same time period in 2019.
Of the 27 people who have died in 2020, 19 had access to seatbelts, and 12 were not wearing seat belts.
Through January 19, 7 pedestrians have died compared to 8 in 2019; 1 motorcyclist has died compared to 2 in 2019; and 0 bicyclists have died compared to 1 in 2019 on state roads and highways.
