Darlington Raceway and South Carolina Department of Public Safety continue to spread awareness with NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Race Entitlement

DARLINGTON, S.C. (Feb. 21, 2024) – Darlington Raceway announced today that the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) will be partnering with the track Too Tough to Tame once again for the Buckle Up South Carolina 200 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Race on Friday, May 10. In addition, the SCDPS will further promote safe and sober driving on Palmetto State roads through a run of public service announcements by NASCAR Cup Series driver Ross Chastain.

“We’re incredibly proud to continue our relationship with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety and keep promoting the significance of highway safety,” said Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris. “The SCDPS rightfully places safety on our roads as a key priority, and we’re honored to help spread that message with the Buckle Up South Carolina 200.”

This is the third year of the SCDPS’ partnership with Darlington Raceway and the second year it has come on board as an entitlement partner for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Race at the track Too Tough to Tame.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that our partnerships with Darlington Raceway, NASCAR, and Ross Chastain have been instrumental in helping us amplify important highway safety messages to the people we serve to protect every day," said Director Robert G. Woods, IV. "As part of our agency’s 30th anniversary, we recently announced the comeback of our ‘Highways or Dieways’ campaign. This ad campaign was wildly successful over the last three decades in communicating the power a driver has in making responsible and safe choices behind the wheel. So bringing these messages to NASCAR fans at this year's Buckle Up SC 200 for the Throwback Weekend at Darlington feels like a perfect fit."

The Buckle Up South Carolina 200 on Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. will be the first of three events throughout the Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR at Darlington Raceway. The action will continue into Saturday, May 11, with the NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at 1:30 p.m. Then, the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series will pay homage to their grassroots origins in the Goodyear 400 on Sunday, May 12, at 3:00 p.m.

In the fall, racing at Darlington Raceway will fire off with the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200 Xfinity Series race on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m. Then, drivers of the NASCAR Cup Series will make one final push to lock themselves into the playoffs as the regular season concludes with the Cook Out Southern 500 on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 6:00 p.m.

NASCAR fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets via phone at 866-459-7223 or online at darlingtonraceway.com while supplies last.
