SCDPS Reports Seven Killed On South Carolina Roadways During Independence Day Weekend, July 3 To July 7, 2024

COLUMBIA — The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven people killed on South Carolina roadways during the Independence Day holiday period beginning Wednesday, July 3, at 6:00 p.m. through Sunday, July 7, at 11:59 p.m. In comparison, SCDPS announced a preliminary number of eight people killed on South Carolina roadways during the 2023 Independence Day holiday period.

Please note that these numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of 11:59 p.m. on July 7, 2024. For confirmation on fatality information, please contact the appropriate county coroner’s office.
