COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces the following funeral arrangements for South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper First Class Dennis D. Ricks who died on Wednesday, August 13, four days after being hit by a vehicle during a traffic stop.
Visitation:
When: Tuesday, August 19, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Where: Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine Street, Columbia
** Media: SCHP Commander, Colonel Christopher Williamson will be available for an interview at 4 p.m. If you are not in place and ready to record at 4 p.m., additional interviews will not be provided Tuesday or Wednesday as the Colonel will need to focus on the needs of the family.
Funeral Services:
When: Wednesday, August 20, 11 a.m.
Where: Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC
** Media: The funeral services are open to the media; additional guidelines will be provided by Monday.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the online fundraiser that’s been set up by Serve and Connect. 100% of the money raised will go to the Ricks family.
