COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, February 8, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 10, at 11:59 p.m.

As of February 11, 97 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 91 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 97 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2019, 73 had access to seatbelts, and 33 were not wearing seat belts.
Through February 11, 17 pedestrians have died compared to 11 in 2018; three motorcyclists have died compared to two in 2018; and one bicyclists have died compared to two in 2018 on state roads and highways.
