SCHP ANNOUNCES NEW COMMUNITY RELATIONS OFFICER FOR TROOP TWO

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a new Community Relations Officer for Highway Patrol Troop Two, which includes Greenwood, Abbeville, Saluda, Edgefield, McCormick, Laurens and Newberry counties.

L/Cpl. B. Justin Sutherland began this new assignment on July 17, transferring from SCHP Troop Three. He will serve primarily as the SCHP spokesperson for Troop Two but will take media call for other areas of the state as well.

Community Relations Officers assist the media with inquiries on routine traffic matters such as collisions, traffic issues, safety initiatives and special enforcement in their area. CROs also promote highway safety education through presentations in schools, businesses, churches, festivals, fairs etc. Each of the seven Highway Patrol Troops has a Community Relations Officer.

L/Cpl. Sutherland has been with the Highway Patrol since 2011. L/Cpl. Sutherland has served in Troop Three since joining the Patrol. He is married to a teacher, Keller Sutherland, in Greenville County and has two children.
