COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, November 11, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, November 13, at midnight.

As of November 13, 2016, 861 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 864 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 557 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 270 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight November 13, 118 pedestrians died compared to 107 in 2015; 126 motorcyclists died compared to 129 in 2015; and 22 bicyclists died compared to 15 in 2015 on state roads and highways.
