Hosted by the Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs, a division of the SC Department of Public Safety, the Law Enforcement Challenge gives South Carolina law enforcement agencies participating in the SC Law Enforcement Networks a chance to win a fully equipped patrol vehicle and/or hand-held speed measuring devices. This is based on their participation in joint-enforcement initiatives, SCLEN meeting attendance, and proper reporting during the challenge period.
The 2025 Law Enforcement Challenge period is December 1, 2024 – September 1, 2025
Agencies participating must meet certain requirements to be eligible for the awards. See below for more information on participation requirements and reporting schedules.

2024 DUI Agency of the Year Award: This award will be given to an agency in the respective category below that has excelled in the areas of DUI arrests, DUI victim services, anti-underage drinking programs, and which has demonstrated excellence in implementing innovative techniques in the detection and deterrence of impaired driving. Include a 1 -page letter of support outlining why the nominated agency should receive this award, including any decreases in the number of DUI-related deaths and injuries as a result of these efforts.

2024 Law Enforcement Network of the Year Award: A South Carolina Law Enforcement Network (LEN) (one of 16 LENs) that has demonstrated excellence in implementing innovative techniques in the detection and deterrence of impaired driving, and has had high numbers in attendance at network meetings, percentage reporting, public safety checkpoints implemented, and participation in statewide campaigns, such as Sober or Slammer!, Hands Across the Border, Buckle Up, South Carolina, etc. Include a 1-page letter of support outlining why the nominated agency should receive this award, including any decreases in the number of DUI-related deaths and injuries as a result of these efforts.

DUI Officer and Rookie of the Year Award: Nominate someone for DUI Officer of the Year or DUI Rookie of the Year Award.

DUI Hero Award: The cutoff date for nominations for the 2024 calendar year is Friday, February 7, 2025
Category placement (Gold, Silver, or Bronze) will be determined by the Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs, a division of the SC Department of Public Safety.
The Hero Lapel Pins will be mailed to your agency for presentation.
