Trooper Rebman was on duty in Greenville County on October 24, 2017 when his patrol vehicle was struck by a truck as he sat stationary on I-385. He died later that day as a result of his injuries. Trooper Rebman joined the Highway Patrol in 2012 as a dispatcher where he served for four years. He became a trooper in September 2016, receiving the Cecil Dilworth Marksmanship Award.
