Patrolman First Class Strickland was on duty in Lexington County when he arrested a driver during a traffic stop. The passenger of the vehicle shot and killed Patrolman Strickland. The two suspects were charged with his death. Patrolman Strickland was a sixteen year veteran of the Patrol and was a native of Dorchester County.
