Patrolman Traylor was on duty in Sumter County when he went to assist another patrolman with an arrest. Two family members assaulted the two patrolmen. Patrolman Traylor was shot and killed and the other patrolman was shot and wounded. The two family members along with another family member were charged in the assault. Patrolman Traylor was a seven year veteran of the Patrol and was a native of Fairfield County.
