SCDPS Reports Five Killed On South Carolina Roadways January 25, 2019 - January 27, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, January 25, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 27, at 11:59 p.m.

As of January 27, 58 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 57 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 58 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2019, 43 had access to seatbelts, 20 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through January 27, 11 pedestrians have died compared to seven in 2018; one motorcyclist has died compared to two in 2018; and zero bicyclists have died compared to two in 2018 on state roads and highways.
