SCDPS Reports Seven Killed On South Carolina Roadways February 22, 2019 - February 24, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, February 22, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 24 , at 11:59 p.m.

As of February 25, 119 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 130 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 119 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2019, 86 had access to seatbelts, and 41 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through February 25, 24 pedestrians have died compared to 20 in 2018; four motorcyclists have died compared to 10 in 2018; and two bicyclists have died compared to two in 2018 on state roads and highways.
