SCDPS Reports Six Killed On South Carolina Roadways March 15, 2019 To March 17, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 15, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 17, at 11:59 p.m.

As of March 17, 173 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 177 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 173 people who have died in 2019, 122 had access to seatbelts, and 58 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through March 17, 30 pedestrians have died compared to 28 in 2018; 10 motorcyclists have died compared to 15 in 2018; and five bicyclists have died compared to two in 2018 on state roads and highways.
