SCDPS Reports Five Killed On South Carolina Roadways July 19, 2019 To July 21, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, July 19, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 21, at 11:59 p.m.

As of July 21, 518 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 554 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 518 people who have died in 2019, 342 had access to seatbelts, and 172 were not wearing seat belts. 

Through July 21, 89 pedestrians have died compared to 85 in 2018; 54 motorcyclists have died compared to 60 in 2018; and 16 bicyclists have died compared to 10 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
