Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT)

The Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), formed in 1994, operates as a support Troop within the South Carolina Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Division to provide the Department with the means to conduct in-depth investigations in order to determine collision events, which are significant to causation or injury production.  MAIT Investigators are trained and equipped to a high level of proficiency in collision reconstruction.

MAIT Investigations

The South Carolina Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) does not investigate all fatal collisions.  For MAIT cases, please allow a minimum of 8 weeks from the incident date for completion of a MAIT investigation.

To request a copy of a MAIT report, please contact the Department of Public Safety’s Freedom of Information (FOIA) department.
